How much time do we spend with our families outside of work? Do we let our mp3’s, the internet, or the TV rule our time at home? Do you know what your child is learning at school, or what activities he or she is in? Some families I know that have teenagers that lock himself or herself up in his or her room, comes down for dinner, and then goes back up again. Do you have any idea what he or she is doing up there?

How about trying this? Don’t use any electronics for a week. If internet is necessary, go to the library as a family. See what happens at the end of the week. Your family is very important. You will always be stuck with them, so why not make the best out of the time you have with them? Yes, you may have years and years and years, but do you realize how quickly time flies? My own parents still tell me, “Aw, I remember you doing this as a baby. It was just like yesterday. Now look at you now.” I know of people who regret not making the most out of the time he or she had with their family and thus weakening bonds with them. We should not let the same happen to us. If it has happened to us, find ways to strengthen that bond again, or make sure it does not happen to our own family.
