Caffeine is one of the most controversial topics I know of. There are so many people addicted to it, and swear it doesn’t affect them. I talk to people every day who are either soda drinkers or coffee drinkers who have trouble sleeping, get frequent headaches, and are extremely irritable. Yet they swear it is not the caffeine. Studies have linked caffeine with all of these symptoms. Most over the counter headache medicine is loaded with caffeine because it supposedly helps relieve headache symptoms, but in all reality it is contributing to problems. It is not a coincidence to find out that the ones drinking large amounts of cola, coffee and other heavily caffeinated drinks are also popping headache pills all day long too. Then they complain about not being able to sleep. Of course caffeine is not the only factor in these scenarios, but it is a big part of it. I’m not saying that caffeine is the devil, or that we should avoid it like the plague, but I do think that we all consume way too much of it. Also there is a small percent of the population that actually benefits from caffeine when they get a migraine, but it is a very small percent. The rest of them that claim it relieves there headaches are the ones that are addicted to it.
